Either party creates the escrow transaction, sets the terms, amount, and delivery conditions. Both parties are invited and identity-verified via Smile ID before anything moves.

An ECTA-compliant contract is auto-generated and e-signed by both parties. The buyer funds via Instant EFT, PayShap, or manual bank transfer. Funds are held in a dedicated Escrow account.

Your funds are held in a dedicated Escrow account at a licensed South African bank — not by Eazy Escrow directly. Our banking partner holds the funds and releases them only on our instruction, which is triggered by the agreed conditions being met. This means your money is protected even if something happened to us.
Eazy Escrow charges a percentage fee on the gross transaction value: 2.5% for transactions up to R10,000; 2.0% up to R50,000; 1.5% up to R200,000; 1.0% up to R500,000; and 0.75% for larger transactions. The fee can be paid by either party or split. Company accounts have an optional monthly subscription (R499/month) that unlocks the full supplier portal.
Either party can raise a dispute at any point after the transaction is funded. Funds are immediately frozen — neither party can access them. Our adjudication team reviews both parties' submissions and evidence, and issues a documented ruling within 5 business days. The ruling is binding and the Escrow account instruction is executed accordingly.
Yes — all users must complete identity verification via Smile ID before creating or funding any transaction. This is a FICA legal requirement for our platform as a registered Accountable Institution. Individuals complete a KYC check (SA ID and liveness verification). Company accounts complete a KYB check (CIPC verification and director KYC). Verification typically takes under 3 minutes.
At launch: PayShap (instant interbank payments), Instant EFT via Ozow (real-time bank-to-bank), and Manual EFT for any transaction size. All payment methods route to the same Escrow account with automated reconciliation via unique reference codes. Card payments will be added in V2.
Public MVP launch is coming soon — we are not yet announcing a firm date. Founding users who join the waitlist will be the first invited at launch, receive 3 months fee-free on transaction fees, and get priority onboarding. We'll communicate progress updates by email throughout the build.
